The Second Coming of Christ
“A Time of End”
In our previous lesson, we saw that the Second Coming of Christ is to be taken very seriously and all the denial and unbelief that the world has towards it will not prevent it from happening.
We saw it will be a time of vengeance. For the past 2,000 years, the world has been horribly treating the good news of the Gospel and God’s people. Jesus has been very patient and longsuffering. But at the Second Coming of Christ, His patience comes to an end.
(Isaiah 42:14), “I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.”
We then began to see it will be a time of an end for a number of things.
- For governments ruled by man without God
- For the wicked having their way of oppressing the innocent and rebellion against God
Let us now continue to see what else the Second Coming of Christ will bring an end to.
An End of False Religions
(Zechariah 13:2-3, 14:9), It shall be in that day,” says the Lord of hosts, “that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall no longer be remembered. I will also cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to depart from the land. It shall come to pass that if anyone still prophesies, then his father and mother who begot him will say to him, ‘You shall not live, because you have spoken lies in the name of the Lord.’ And his father and mother who begot him shall thrust him through when he prophesies…And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
So many precious souls have been led astray by manmade religions, doctrines, traditions, and deities. Those who have been in leadership positions of false religions are going to pay a very heavy price for deceiving the people and preventing them from truly coming to Christ.
(Matthew 23:13-33), But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in…Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness…Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?
The Second Coming of Christ is going to put an end to all false religions, their leaders, and their doctrines. No more deceivers, no more fooling people. Jesus will be exalted in the hearts of the people for 1,000 years, and His truth will go forth from His throne in Jerusalem and all will hear, and all will know.
(Micah 4:1-2), Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
An End of Fighting and Wars
(Isaiah 2:1-4), The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.
Governments and nations have been trying for years to put an end to all the fighting and killing, but have utterly failed. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been swept away in man’s attempt to establish peace. Peace covenant after peace covenant have been broken only to prove that man will never in his own power prevent any more wars from happening.
Truly, our only hope is the Lord Jesus Christ’s Second Coming.
An End of the Devil for 1,000 Years
(Revelation 20:1-3), Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
- Peter, in his epistle, (1 Peter 5:8), tells us the Devil is very active destroying people’s lives like a roaring lion walking about seeking to devour.
- Paul tells us in (Ephesians 6:12-18) that we are in a constant battle with the Devil and his evil influences.
- In (Matthew 4), the Lord Jesus shows us that the Devil does not give up that easily in tempting us to sin. The Devil has indeed destroyed many lives, but his days are numbered.
When Jesus comes back, Satan will be defeated and cast into the bottomless pit and ultimately into the Lake of Fire, never to hurt anyone anymore.
An Everlasting Punishment for Unbelievers
Along with the end of those things mentioned above, at this time there will be a terribly sad and devastating outcome that will last for all eternity, for those who did not take salvation in Christ honestly and sincerely.
(Matthew 25:31-46), When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels… And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
A Wonderful Beginning for Believers
God is offering a wonderful and unimaginable future with Him for all eternity. The love, joy and peace of His never-ending kingdom is offered to you. It’s His desire and plea that all would accept His invitation before it is too late according to the following verses (with the original Greek definition behind the word “willing”, inserted in gray);
(2 Peter 3:3-9), knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation… But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing (desiring) that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
How to Accept God’s invitation
We will show you how to accept God’s invitation by taking you through a collection of verses that many people refer to as “Roman’s Road”
- Realize with a sincere heart that you have sinned against God, and do not deserve heaven
(Romans 3:10,23), “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
- Agree with God’s Word that because you have sinned, you deserve death
(Romans 6:23a), “For the wages of sin is death;”
- With all your heart, believe Jesus came to die on the cross to save you from sin and death
(Romans 6:23b), “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- Confess to God you have sinned and are so very sorry, and call upon Jesus to save you
(Romans 10:9-13), “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
- Truly believe that He fully earned heaven for you
(Romans 5:1), “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
- Fully trust and stay in love with your Lord Jesus Christ
(Romans 8:28), “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Does the “road” you are travelling on have a “dead end” or “NO END WITH JESUS”?
(1 John 5:11-13), And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
